You can play the Daily Bonus Level whether you have lives or not but once you have won you are finished with that round.
Don't use potions on it because you will probably spend more than what you win. Wait to play the game until you have used all your potions on the regular game.
After you have played it and won, notice the clock in the upper right corner of the map; it tells you when the next bonus level will be available.
